SIFF Box Office opens
My only knowledge of upcoming SIFF films for the year has been through the weekly press screening emails, which is a luxury to full series pass people, but unfortunately I haven't been able to attend due to work. The preview events came and went and I wasn't able to attend those either. I've been itching to finally pick up my passes and today was the day. As a first time "fool serious" pass holder, I'm greatly looking forward to the next few weeks.
The box office at Pacific Place was fairly sparse in the afternoon. While standing in line, we were offered mini cupcakes from Cupcake Royale, and a little magic show by The Amazing William: "Man of Mystery, Master of the Mystic Arts, Maker of Miracles, All-Around Fun Guy." It was an enjoyable distraction from the wait, and I was amused that SIFF had actually hired a guy to entertain the line. Perhaps this is the first time I've been to the box office on opening day and it's always like this, I'm not sure.
Unfortunately none of the Seattle Times pull-out schedules were available at all, which was sort of weird because how are you supposed to pick movies? That may explain why it was so dead. There were some wacky merchandise offerings available, including mood rings and a $1 tattoo.
By late afternoon, I noticed the website had launched with the complete set of films, and got started sifting through them. Already there's a good chunk on my must-see list, but I will post it in its entirety once it's done being assembled.
